Lichen Planus - Ulcerative Lichen Planus
Friday, February 25, 2011 at 5:13PM Ulcerative Lichen Planus is most commonly encountered on the mucosal membranes and rarely on the skin and is one of the versions of Lichen Planus that I treat in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices. Occasionally, Ulcerative Lichen Planus can occur on the feet and toes resulting in permanent destruction of the nail matrix. In the oral cavity, the buccal mucosa is involved in 90% of all cases of Ulcerative Lichen Planus and the gingiva and tongue are also frequently affected. Vulvovaginalgingival Syndrome occurs in some female patients with Ulcerative Lichen Planus in which the gingiva, vulva and vagina are all affected.
