Desmoid Tumors are benign fibrous tissue abnormalities that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices.  Desmoid Tumors are large well circumscribed nodules below the skin that originate from the fascia of the muscles.  The most common location is the abdominal wall and they are most frequently seen during pregnancy.  Although benign, Desmoid Tumors can be lethal if they become very large and obstruct vital anatomical structures.  The most dangerous Desmoid Tumors are those inside the abdomen and around the neck.  Treatment is with wide local excision and occasionally radiation therapy. Desmoid tumor | perri dermatology
