Fibrous Tissue Abnormalities – Acral Fibrokeratoma

March 29th, 2014

Acral Fibrokeratoma is a benign fibrous tissue abnormality that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands and Conroe dermatology offices.  Acral Fibrokeratomas clinically appear on the fingers, toes, palms and soles and are usually a raised flesh colored scaly nodule that has a surrounding collarette at the base.  Acral Fibrokeratomas may resemble an accessory digit and usually occur in patients over the age of 30.  Treatment usually involves shave or surgical excision.
