Hair Follicle Neoplasms – Trichoblastoma

May 29th, 2011

Trichoblastomas are benign hair follicle neoplasms that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology clinics.  Trichoblastomas arise from the hair follicle’s germinative cells.  Clinically, Trichoblastomas appear as flesh colored nodules.  The most common anatomical location to find a Trichoblastoma is the scalp.  Trichoblastomas do not usually occur until adulthood and are the most common tumor to arise in a Nevus Sebaceous.  Treatment of Trichoblastomas is surgical excision if they are symptomatic.
