Pleomorphic Lipomas are benign fat tissue abnormalities that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices. Most often, Pleomorphic Lipomas arise on the posterior neck and back. They are most commonly seen in elderly men. On histology, they have a rather unique appearance that delineates them from a typical lipoma, as floret giant cells are seen. As these lesions are benign, treatment is surgical excision if the patient desires removal.
