Fibrous Tissue Abnormalities – Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath

Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath is a benign fibrous tissue abnormality that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices.  Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath (GCTTS) is most commonly found on the hands and clinically presents as a 1cm or larger nodule.  Although benign, these lesions can cause problems with hand movement and grasping objects.  Treatment is surgical excision but in approximately 25% of cases recurrences occur.
