Chordomas are neural tissue abnormalities that I rarely encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices. Clinically, a Chordoma appears as a firm nodule in the lower back region or at the base of the skull. Most patients who develop a Chordoma are adults but the Chordoma arises from an embryologic remnant of the notochord (the primitive spinal cord). Treatment is surgical and usually post operative radiation therapy is utilized.
