Fat Tissue Abnormalities – Hibernoma
Hibernomas are benign fat tissue abnormalities that I rarely encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices. Hibernomas are lipomas of brown fat, which is a type that is present in embryos. Clinically, Hibernomas are very firm and have a brown coloration. Typically, they are found on the chest and back. Although they are made of an embryonic type of fat, they usually begin in adulthood. Treatment is surgical excision if they become symptomatic.
