Fat Tissue Abnormalities – Liposarcoma
Liposarcoma is a malignant fat tissue abnormality that I rarely encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices. Liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma. Typically, a Liposarcoma arises from the muscle fascia and very rarely from subcutaneous tissue. Lipomas do not develop into Liposarcomas. Clinically, a Liposarcoma enlarges over time and the most common anatomic area affected is the upper legs. Adult males are the most common epidemiologic group affected. Treatment involves wide excision and/or radiation treatment and/or chemotherapy.
