Cellular Blue Nevus is a variant of a Blue Nevus that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices.  Clinically, a Cellular Blue Nevus is a large dark blue nodule typically located in the lower back region and buttocks.  Females are over 2X more likely to have a Cellular Blue Nevus and it is most commonly seen in middle age.  Although they are benign, Cellular Blue Nevi may invade locally into deeper structures such as into fat, muscle or bone tissue.  Treatment for Cellular Blue Nevi is surgical excision if deemed clinically or histologically necessary.Cellular blue nevus | perri dermatology
