Nevus of Ito is a benign melanocytic nevus that I occasionally encounter in both my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology offices.  Clinically, a Nevus of Ito is very similar to a Nevus of Ota but the blue/black patch overlies the side of the neck, supraclavicular area and the shoulder.  Nevus of Ito follows the distribution of the lateral cutaneous brachial nerves and the posterior supraclavicular nerves.  As this lesion is benign, no treatment is needed unless cosmetically desired.  A Q switch laser is usually effective at removing a Nevus of Ito.Nevus of ito | perri dermatology
