Erythroplasia of Queyrat is Squamous Cell Cancer in Situ of the glans penis and I encounter it occasionally in my The Woodlands dermatology and Conroe dermatology clinics.  Erythroplasia of Queyrat is caused by high risk HPV types (16,18,31,35).  Clinically, Erythroplasia of Queyrat appears as red velvety moist smooth plaques and is most common in uncircumcised men over age 40.  Erythroplasia of Queyrat has a higher tendency to become invasive in comparison to non genital Squamous Cell Cancer in Situ.  Treatment with topical Effudex can be very effective and surgical excision is always a viable treatment option.
